Welcome to our July newsletter!

I know it’s only been a couple of weeks since our last one, but this is all part of our new commitment to sending monthly updates. Feel free to hold me accountable if I miss one! 🙂

Let’s dive in:


✅ A Huge Well Done for June!
Thanks for a brilliant month of training. Attendances and effort have been fantastic, and June was our most successful referral scheme month ever!

A huge thank you to everyone who referred a friend. If you want to get involved and bag yourself a voucher while potentially changing someone’s life, just ask at reception or check your emails for details.


🥊 Kickboxing Highlights
Our Kickboxers had an excellent June:

  • ✅ A successful in-house event
  • ✅ 8 of our team competed at the South Tyneside Open, bringing home a fantastic medal haul and delivering top performances from both first-timers and experienced fighters.

Well done to everyone who took part!

🥋 Karate Competitors – Your Turn!
This month it’s time for our Karate athletes to shine:

  • 🗓️ In-House Karate Competition: Sunday 13th July (entries close Tuesday July 8th)
  • 🗓️ North East Open (Sunderland): Sunday 10th August

Good luck to everyone preparing for these events!


🧭 Our Focus in July: Agility & Flexibility
We always want to share our monthly themes with you. While our lesson plans support upcoming gradings or competitions, we also work on foundational skills each month.

For July, we’re focusing on:

⚡ Agility
Moving quickly and changing direction with balance and control. Essential for dodging, countering, and reacting in martial arts. Agility also improves coordination and reduces injury risk in daily life.

🧘 Flexibility
Range of motion in muscles and joints. Vital for better kicks and stances, reducing injury risk, and improving overall movement quality. Flexibility helps with posture and staying pain-free in everyday life.

We’ve noticed many kids struggle with these, so we’re making them a big focus this month!


📅 What’s Happening – Don’t Forget!

✅ Summer Break:
Sunday 24th August – Sunday 31st August
➡️ Final session: Sunday 24th August
➡️ First session back: Monday 1st September

We take this short annual break to recharge ourselves and the dojo so we can return ready to smash the rest of the year!


✅ FREE Kids Camps (5–14 years)
We’re running 4 weeks of FREE, 4-day-a-week camps this year for kids with a Sunderland postcode.

No strict age limit – older kids are welcome and we’ll tailor sessions to make sure they’re challenged and making real progress.

💪 A Quick Reminder…
It’s easy to fall out of routine over summer. Of course, enjoy family time and holidays – but don’t lose the training habit!

This is often when people stop without meaning to. Stay active, keep showing up, and remember the long-term benefits of martial arts training.
